This Alpine Log Home, says architect Mike Ryan, "is of its own time and place." Since they were not trying to evoke the past or mimic some other style, there were no particular design limitations or constraints. They drew on available resources and the talents of local craftspeople to create a home that suits the lifestyle and aesthetics of the owners.

Not buying into traditional log-house mind-sets, the architect and homeowners chose contemporary cabinetry then used the same teal green stain carried throughout the house via the trim.
